As of March 1, 2012 there was a major change to the way I work. Due to changes in insurance practices over the years I will no longer be accepting insurance-that is, i will no longer be on any insurance panels except Medicare. On December 1, 2011, in an effort to ‘restructure’ BCBS terminated all mental health practitioners in the state of Florida and offered us a ‘plan b’, which of course reduced allowed amounts approximately 20-30% and increased paperwork. After almost 25 years in practice and with BCBS the only plan I had participated with for the last 20 or so I decided to opt out. I will still assist patients in any way that i can to file sessions to their insurance carrier.
