This section answers frequently asked questions and common concerns when considering psychotherapy.
Psychotherapy is a unique professional relationship between a therapist and a patient based on therapeutic principles, structure, and technique. It is a dialog between doctor and patient for the sole purpose of helping the client improve their ability to deal with life’s challenges. It is through the therapeutic alliance and the relationship that the healing occurs.
There are many reasons that people seek the help of a qualified professional. At various points in life, we have losses, “necessary losses” which, no matter how disguised, painful, or how much suffering they create, pose an opportunity for growth. Navigating through these events: a problematic childhood, divorce or career change, a loss through death, change or break-up, and unhealthy relationships at home or work can produce unexpected symptoms, such as anxiety, depression, addictions, and more.
While many people handle their problems on their own, there are times when seeking professional assistance can bring a different perspective, support, and tools needed to empower and change destructive patterns. When you no longer feel in control of your decisions and life, it is time to seek professional assistance.
There is tremendous value in talking through your problems and challenges with someone who has the experience, training, and expertise to help you understand yourself and make changes to free you from relentless and destructive patterns.
Benefits are available from participating in psychotherapy. The return from therapy depends upon how you participate in the process and what you put into practice. Some of these include:
Treatment is available for adolescents and adults, and with most clinical problems, including:
I have training and experience in both conventional forms of therapy and state-of-the-art evidence-based therapies as well. These include psychoanalytic psychotherapy, various behavioral and cognitive therapies, sex therapy, hypnotherapy, and past-life regression therapy (PLRT), eye movement desensitization reprocessing (EMDR), emotionally focused therapy for individuals, couples, and families (EFIT, EFCT, EFFT), discernment counseling, mindfulness, and specialized training in sex and process addictions and infidelity. I draw my work from both Western and Eastern traditions. Treatment is available for short-term management of a crisis and intermediate to long-term therapy. I am also a qualified parenting coordinator and family court mediator.
According to state statutes, information exchanged during psychotherapy is privileged communication and subject to privacy. As such, I am not permitted to acknowledge that anyone is in my care unless given your written consent. There are exceptions, such as danger to the self or others. Details are provided in the Patient Services Agreement and the HIPAA statement.
Therapy can last anywhere from a few sessions to several years, depending on your goals, the issues bringing you in, and your commitment to the process. Everyone’s circumstances are unique. Some people come for short-term support during a crisis; others engage in longer work to address deeper patterns.
Behavioral management can provide relief, but it does not substitute for the ‘bottom-up’ deeper work—for without it, symptom reduction may not be sustainable.
Therapy is typically done in weekly or twice-weekly increments. During a crisis, sessions may be more frequent, and as you progress, sessions may be spaced further apart. For some, longer or more intensive sessions provide the deeper momentum needed for lasting change.
Individual sessions run 45 or 50 minutes. Couples’ sessions are typically 50-55 minutes, with extended options available: initial consultations (75 minutes), extended sessions (90–120 minutes), or intensive sessions (2–3 hours). EMDR, hypnosis, PLRT, and discernment counseling are most effective in 90–120-minute formats. Weekends sessions are available in-office with a two-hour minimum.
Sessions are offered in my Boca Raton office or virtually through secure Telehealth. Weekend intensives are available in person, while online sessions make it possible to work together wherever you are.
The location is flexible—what matters most is creating a space where you feel safe, focused, and ready to do the work.
Sessions are available in-office and via Telehealth via a Zoom platform. Weekend sessions are available for a two-hour minimum appointment in the office.
Sessions are available Mondays via Telehealth 7:00a-8:00p and in the office Tuesdays/Thursdays 8:00a-7:00p and Wednesdays/Fridays: 8:00a-5:00p. Weekend hours are available for extended sessions in-office and hourly via Telehealth.
I require 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule a session; otherwise, the full session fee is charged. These missed sessions cannot be billed to insurance.
When unexpected situations arise, an alternative to cancellation is to switch your session to Telehealth, which is always available. Please understand that excessive cancellations may risk you losing your regular time slot.
Sometimes, a combination of medication and therapy is the right course of action. You can determine what’s best for you with your psychiatrist or medical doctor. It is well established that the long-term solution to mental and emotional problems cannot be managed solely by medication. Instead of just treating the symptom, therapy addresses the cause of our distress and the behavior patterns that curb our progress. You can achieve sustainable growth and a greater sense of well-being with an integrative approach to wellness.

For exact fees or to discuss your needs, please call or email the office.
I am not contracted with insurance. However, as a courtesy, I submit claims electronically each month so that reimbursement is sent directly to you (depending on your plan). Coverage varies, so contact your carrier to inquire about your out-of-network deductible, co-pays and co-insurance, annual limits (session or dollar amount), and whether pre-authorization is required.
It is important to know that using insurance reduces confidentiality. Submitting claims requires me to provide a mental health diagnosis and procedure code, giving third parties a voice in your care. Therapy works best when treatment decisions remain between therapist and client.
Forensic services, such as depositions and testimony, are not reimbursable.
